Joanna Jenkins (NamUs MP # 23572)

Joanna Jenkins went missing on November 1st, 1977 from Oak Hill, Ohio in Jackson County. Few details are available in her case. Her NamUs profile doesn't offer much and that will slow down any websleuths out there. However, anyone looking at this case should be aware that leads turned up in 2005, leads that were apparently ignored at the time and don't seem to be covered all that much online. Whether they have been looked at since is not a matter I know of:

The source above mentions that there is an informant. He claims that Jenkins was thrown down a well by a man that also struck her. Anyone working on this case could look for human remains discovered after November 1st in 1977 in such a location. NamUs says Jenkins' DNA is tested so any remains found in a well that has its DNA tested is not likely to be Jenkins as the computerized systems would link them without any help.

By: Shane Lambert Season 2 of the hit TV show Forensic Files included an episode (Episode 12) that contained information that those who work on missing person cases should note. The episode tells of the missing person's case of Dario Cicolecchia, a boy in Switzerland who went missing in 1993. Importantly, this boy was found, his murderer was apprehended, and this murderer also made statements to the police about how he operated. I think there's a nugget of information that's worth extracting from this case and using it as food for thought in similar cases. By: Shane Lambert Original time of writing: February 18th, 2018 Tonight I looked at the mysterious case of Beverly Sharpman, an individual who was last seen on September 11th, 1947 in Philadelphia. NamUs has her listed as 16 years old at the time of her disappearance. However, all the newspaper articles I looked at indicated that she was 17 years old at the time. Generally, she is reported as 17 years old, which has always meant that she is a missing child. Exploring the Enigma of Beverly Sharpman’s Disappearance The case stands out to me because of the huge effort that individuals in Beverly's family made, especially her mother Nettie, in attempting to find her. By: Shane Lambert Updated: February 16th, 2021 The Rahway Jane Doe is an individual who was murdered in the town of Rahway, New Jersey on March 25th, 1887. The mystery of the murder victim's identity stands out, because it is the oldest unsolved mystery listed at DoeNetwork.org.  I researched this mystery using online newspaper databases for a good two hours on February 5th, 2017. In my opinion, there is very little chance of conclusively solving this mystery for websleuths even with modern technology, like searchable newspaper databases, that wasn't available in 1887. The "clews" in this case (that's the 1887 spelling of "clues") are 99% red herrings if you ask me. Perhaps the best chance in identifying her is through DNA and the family-tree method.  Why bother with this case? I read over her case at NamUs and then used an online-newspaper database to look at the reporting from 1990 that covered her case. I feel that anyone websleuthing this case should know about details that I came across during this research. It's my opinion that NamUs doesn't provide enough information. Furthermore, I took a look at the greater region and the large time frame associated with this case. I've noted numerous cases of white females going missing from Texas after experiencing car troubles between 1988 and 1994. These cases may or may not be related.
